Rising Film Spotlight

Write for us

Rising Film Spotlight welcomes pitches that help general readers notice a specific, explainable choice in film or screen craft. We value clear thinking, a distinct angle and language that brings newcomers in without flattening the subject.

What to pitch

Propose one focused article about an aspect such as camera work, editing, production design, animation or sound. A pitch should name its central question, explain what the reader will understand or notice, and show why the subject can stand on its own rather than repeat familiar generalities.

A useful approach

Strong proposals define specialist terms, distinguish observation from interpretation and avoid claiming that one reading is the only possible one. We welcome fresh ways into a subject, including comparisons or explanations grounded in films and scenes the writer can identify accurately. Do not send confidential material or make claims that cannot be responsibly supported.

How to send a proposal

Send pitches through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a working title, a short outline of the main idea and a brief note about relevant experience or perspective. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication; do not submit a complete article unless requested.
